The Medical Academy is designed for students interested in the fields of medicine and medical research.
Specialized course work prepares students to face the challenges of pre-med training in college, and they work directly with medical professionals in the field. Students learn, practice, and perfect those skills necessary to give them the advantage needed to apply successfully for college scholarships and to excel in their chosen area of study. Designed for the college-bound student pursuing a professional career in medicine, this three-year curriculum offers an opportunity to conduct volunteer work in medical-related areas. The course work for the Medical Academy students at BTMHS includes medical history, medical terminology, bio-ethics, pharmacology, and content-specific Latin. Students develop multimedia projects and create digital portfolios on numerous topics including anatomy, physiology, and clinical experiences. Students gain field experience in the city’s hospitals and medical institutions. They experience real-life-working conditions and explore a wide variety of fields related to medicine and the medical profession. |
