College and Career Academy
Program Description
The College and Career Academy is designed to assist students in determining career choices for their future and aid them in charting a plan to achieve individual goals. The College and Career Academy provides entry-level students a strong base for understanding the choices they will face in their careers. This academy offers an introduction to each of the specialized areas of preparation at Brewbaker Technology Magnet High School. In addition, students will receive training and instruction in social skills in the workplace, including the interview process, dressing for work, and professional manners. Ethics in the business world will be studied and analyzed through simulation.
This is reinforced during the annual College and Career Breakfast/Brunch, which highlights what the students have learned about making professional presentations, working in simulated business situations and team building skills. Students work on personal budgets, prepare resumes and conduct mock interviews. Community service is stressed as well as membership in the Technology Student Association (TSA) and Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology (BEST).
